How to waterproof a roof

As it is a product derived from the distillation of petroleum, it is not easy to dispose of and harmful gases are emitted when inhaled.
They are similar to bituminous membranes but here the percentage of bitumen is less than 50%. They are given by plastic polymers such as PVC or polyethylene. They have excellent elasticity but cannot be used for laying on roofs treated with bitumen, asphalt, tars, solvents, oils and other products with hydrocarbons. They are much less common than bituminous membranes, probably also due to the poor resistance to UV rays.
Self-adhesive membranes can be both bituminous and polymeric. Compared to the prefabricated bituminous membranes described above, they have the advantage of being easier to "lay". The installation, in fact, uses a cold system and does not require open flames. Dry-laid self-adhesive membranes are recommended when the roof or terrace it would not be able to undergo the heat produced by the free flame necessary for laying the bituminous membranes. Sometimes the insulating layer is sensitive to heat and can deteriorate when the bituminous layer is laid hot.
Self-protected membranes with copper, aluminum or slate coating
