Produce electricity with the lift it is possible thanks to a system called ERS (Energy Retrieve System) which in addition to producing current that can be used for different purposes (thermal and electrical) also allows to reduce the pre-existing energy consumption of almost all lifting systems, for example lifts , cranes, overhead traveling cranes and escalators.

For produce electricity the ERS system exploits the gravitational energy component of the cabin during the descent phase based on two parameters: the weight on the descent (greater weight equals greater energy) and the type of lifting system. The production of energy also corresponds to a reduction in consumption in lifting and in stand-by.

Energy Retrieve System was developed and patented by the Eco Sun Power company and today it is used in the housing sector in various condominiums and in the industrial sector mainly on overhead cranes. In practice, the system enables three advantages: produce electricity in the descent phase; reduce the energy consumption of the system in the lifting phase; reduce energy consumption in the stand-by phase.

Another advantage of the system is that it is suitable for both new constructions and restructuring or restyling interventions. Per produce electricity, ERS can use a motor generator that takes the place of the old motor of the lifting system or a permanent magnet generator to integrate with the existing motor.

In the case of elevators, the system allows as mentioned to produce electricity in proportion to the weight on descent. On average, for each stroke with the weight downhill ERS produces from 3 to 6 Watts for each Kg of difference between the weight of the cabin with its load and that of the counterweight. In this way, 30% to 60% of the energy used is produced depending on the working conditions.

Produce electricity with the lift, it allows for example to use the self-generated current for heating domestic water (through a resistance) where there is a centralized thermal system. On the other hand, the electrical uses of the self-production can be: the same lifting system, the staircase light, the intercom, the boiler pump, etc. The direct re-injection of the current into the grid for the supply of other users is possible through the regenerative inverter Eco ERS.
